Understand how web players append media segments in the browser and why MSE playback may not expose one video file.

Media Source Extensions (MSE) is a browser API that lets web applications build playback by appending media data to a source buffer. A player can fetch and manage segments itself, so the video being watched may not correspond to one direct file URL. MSE describes a playback mechanism, not a download format.
With MSE, a web application creates a MediaSource and adds one or more SourceBuffer objects. It can append media segments as they arrive, remove old buffered data, and coordinate audio and video. The browser decodes and plays the buffered content. This architecture supports sophisticated players but means the network view can contain many requests rather than one complete movie file.
Formats and player logic decide how media is described, requested, and appended. A site may use a manifest, segmented resources, separate tracks, or a custom delivery approach. MSE provides browser primitives for assembling playback; it does not prescribe that a downloader can combine every observed request into a valid standalone file.
The player may request short-lived segments only as playback advances, select quality dynamically, and use session context. Looking for a single MP4 link can therefore produce no result even when the video plays normally. A detector may show requests related to the player, but their presence alone does not establish that they form a complete or authorized download.
When a stream is available through a supported and permitted workflow, inspect track choices and verify the output instead of assuming MSE guarantees compatibility. Browser support for particular codecs and operations also varies. DRM-protected playback is not supported for saving and must not be bypassed. Only download material that you own or have explicit permission to retain.
Only download content you own or have permission to save. Support depends on the website and media format; DRM-protected content is not supported.
